Land Girls featured in ‘War Pictures by British Artists: Women’, 1943.

In 1943, Oxford University press published the second in their series of ‘War Pictures by British Artists: Women’. The artwork below features Land Girls: practicing to milk on artificial udders, growing vegetables for the navy, and carting oats.

All the artwork produced in this volume was created by artists under the direction of the Ministry of Information Artists’ Advisory Committee.

Other titles in the series included photos of production, soldiers, and air raids. The first series of publications focused on war at sea, the Blitz, the RAF and the army.
