Doreen Staunton

Doreen Staunton worked in the Women’s Timber Corps near Berkhamsted during the Second World War. She was born in Leeds, before later moving to Blackpool. Doreen died in the late 1950s from tuberculosis. According to Doreen’s sister, she was proud of her service. Doreen’s nephew Mike, has kindly shared some photographs from her time as a Lumber Jill.
