This was only issued to land girls who applied to receive one at the time they left the Women’s Land Army in the period from the end of the war in 1945 up to November 1950. It was written as an initiative of the Patron of the WLA, the then Queen Elizabeth (consort of King George VI, and later known, after 1952, as the Queen Mother).
